Utilize Meal-Planning Apps

I've used meal-planning apps that allow clients to track their nutrition and make adjustments in real-time. This makes it easier for them to stick to their dietary goals and see progress faster.

Conduct In-Person Cooking Workshops

One tool I’ve started to use as a dietitian is in-person cooking workshops. The in-person, hands-on experience provides members with confidence and education around making simple recipes. Teamwork and accomplishing tasks together help individuals stick with their nutrition goals and improve their overall food choices.

Recommend Nutrition Science Podcasts

A great resource I share with patients and families is the Zoe Science and Nutrition podcast. Patients can listen to the most up-to-date nutrition science so that they can be great advocates for themselves as we set up a tailored nutrition plan for them.

Offer Comprehensive Health Support App

At New York Bariatric Group, we have an innovative app for our patients called VHP (Virtual Health Partners). This app gives our patients 24/7 support in nutrition, behavioral health, and fitness. We have live groups and classes, as well as an On-Demand section that patients who are not comfortable in a group setting can still benefit from the same support and information. It includes nutrition follow-up 1:1 with our RDs, meal plans, recipes, food shopping lists, a message center to ask questions, and fitness videos for all levels and people with restrictions. It really supports the 'whole' person.
